From door handle to urban development, we design at every scale. We are particularly interested in complex building projects in challenging urban contexts.
A key focus of the practice is the design of buildings for education and research. Other areas of expertise include housing, office buildings and the refurbishment of existing buildings—often listed structures. We also prepare urban design studies and masterplans, some of which incorporate stakeholder-engagement and facilitation processes.
Our clients include both private- and public-sector organisations. Many commissions, particularly those for public clients, have arisen from successful competition entries. Our projects have been widely published and exhibited.
Founded in 1999, Behles & Jochimsen has operated as a limited architectural practice since 2005 and is led by five managing partners. We provide the full range of architectural services competently, within budget and on schedule. We deliver projects in Germany and abroad, and also act as lead consultant. Each project team includes one or two partners, together with long-standing members of staff. Where required, we draw on a network of colleagues, specialist consultants and expert advisers.
Sustainable, resource-efficient construction is central to our work. We have completed, or are currently delivering, several timber-hybrid buildings as well as buildings with recognised sustainability and energy-efficiency certifications, including DGNB, KfW and QNG. For many years, we have consistently designed in three dimensions and worked with BIM (Building Information Modelling).
We are members of the Berlin Chamber of Architects, the Association of German Architects (BDA), the Luxembourg Association of Architects and Consulting Engineers (OAI), the BIM Alliance and FAIRtrag e. V.
