The post-war subdivision of what had once been an exceptionally large flat had resulted in a layout in which the living room could only be accessed through the kitchen. The refurbishment sought to create a generous living space with an open-plan kitchen.

Three full-height cabinets structure the room, each articulated by horizontal openings of varying proportions. Carefully framed views make both the depth of the apartment and its corner location overlooking Lake Lietzensee perceptible from the entrance hall onwards.

The new bathroom is lined with glass mosaic. A high central space forms its core, with a series of niches opening off it, each serving a distinct purpose. Travertine flooring complements the lime-washed oak floors used throughout the living areas.
