The building block dating from the 1950s on Sophie-Charlotte-Strasse is to be complemented by a counterpart on Knobelsdorffstrasse. The courtyard, previously used as a car park, will be enclosed and relieved of traffic noise. With articulated setbacks in the upper storeys, the new building responds to the plasticity of the neighbouring Wilhelminian-era buildings. At the corner, which at the request of the planning authority is not to be fully developed, a bay window projects westwards.

On the courtyard side, the building volume is stepped both horizontally and vertically several times. This allows for optimal utilisation of the site while simultaneously ensuring good daylight provision for both the existing and new buildings. As a result, the 18 flats created in the new building feature a wide variety of layouts. The existing building will undergo an energy-efficient refurbishment, and the roof space will be converted. The client is a co-housing group (Baugruppe).
