The new school building follows the outline of the former sports field. A four-storey ring of classrooms encloses a central volume that houses the entrance hall, assembly hall and refectory on the ground floor, with two stacked triple sports halls above. This taller structure also contains the main circulation routes and separates the school and entrance courtyards as well as the primary and secondary areas.

At the distinctive semi-circular ends of the two building wings, the courtyards open up to the outside via generous, double-height portals. The entrance courtyard extends invitingly towards Rohrdamm, while the school courtyard opens southwards into the landscaped outdoor areas and to the secondary entrance on Goebelstraße.

The valuable existing trees are largely preserved and supplemented. The skeleton structure, built as a reinforced concrete and timber hybrid, ensures sustainable, flexible and cost-efficient construction.
